Cat Valley is a garage punk band out of the Pacific Northwest, known for their rousing energy, intricate vocal harmonies, dueling reverb-drenched lead guitars, and scathing observations of a world gone mad. Returning on the heels of their 2021 EP Feral, a 7-song record laced with elements of 90’s alt-rock and soaring, surf-pop vocal harmonies, Cat Valley hits a fresh sonic stride: Their new EP, Bingo Queen, out September 15th, 2023, digs into hardcore punk’s distorted guitars, bellowing vocals, and driving tempos, as it rages in the face of political oppression and explores themes of trauma, aging, and self-love.
“Not Me”, the second track on the upcoming EP is a patriarchy-bashing garage rock tune. It begins with Flinn’s soaring lead guitar which floats over driving instrumentation before settling into verse full of held back anger as the vocal melody dances around palm muted guitars before exploding into a high energy punk chorus. The lyrics explore themes of romantic possession, entitlement, and the male gaze, “You’ve got me where you want me now,” before exploding into a defiant chorus of shouted group vocals, “Not me!”. In true Cat Valley style, Flinn and Hegge trade guitar leads, share sweet vocal harmonies, and yell their hearts out.
You’re watching every move I make
And I feel my disguise
Punching operator codes
In your sharp little mind
Cold calculations, imitations
of the love you can’t find
You’ve got me where you want me, where you want me now
When I go outside I smile
And I always say hi
Paint my face to hide the look
I keep deep in my eyes
Your expectations, limitations
They just fuck with my head
You don’t know me
You don’t know me
You don’t know who I am
You’re counting points for the win
My patience is growing thin
You think I’m gonna give in

Cat Valley is:
Blood lemon kicks ass. Reminds one of your favorite parts of Sleater-Kinney and classic 90's alt rock. Powerful choruses that make one want to jump up and down in a denim jacket with no pants on. Cat Valley
