Bingo Queen 03:13
Too old for drugs Too young for retirement I hate my job But I gotta pay the rent No IRA But I’ve got cat food for days Got my robe on Gonna party like it’s 5pm I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna SCREAM Too old for drugs Too young for retirement I hate my job But I gotta pay the rent Don’t call me Cuz I won’t answer the phone Watching my soaps So leave me the fuck alone I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna SCREAM B-I-N-G-O
2.
Not Me 03:25
You’re watching every move I make And I feel my disguise Punching operator codes In your sharp little mind Cold calculations, imitations of the love you can’t find You’ve got me where you want me, where you want me now Not me Not me When I go outside I smile And I always say hi Paint my face to hide the look I keep deep in my eyes Your expectations, limitations They just fuck with my head You don’t know me You don’t know me You don’t know who I am You’re counting points for the win My patience is growing thin You think I’m gonna give in Not me Not me
3.
Mean Girls 04:50
You look so cute When you’re having fun I’m proud of you For all that you’ve done I know sometimes that life can be a grind You have to know that you are doing fine You’re too hard, you’re too hard, you’re too hard On yourself You’re so nice, you’re so nice, you’re so nice To everyone else You work too hard You should take a break You give too much You deserve to take I know sometimes that life can be a grind You have to know that you are doing fine You’re too hard, you’re too hard, you’re too hard On yourself You’re so nice, you’re so nice, you’re so nice To everyone else
4.
Imposter 06:08
Hold me close and share my dirty secret I’m a fuck up and a dissappointment Guess I’ll always be my father’s daughter Guess I’ll always feel like an imposter Choke it down or I’ll just choke I’m just the punchline of your stupid joke Can’t shake the feeling that I don’t belong Inside I’m screaming that I’m doing it all wrong Cause I’m a fucking Imposter I’m a fucking imposter I’m a fucking imposter I’m a fucking imposter Now it’s midnight and I’m not sleeping You crept into my head, you got me thinking I’m never gonna be enough for you I’m never gonna be enough for you
5.
My Body 02:09
You think you own me You think you own the whole fucking world I’m so sick of you controlling everything that I do I’m disposable, deplorable there’s nothing left to do I’m just a babymaker, birth canal That’s all I am to you It’s not your choice, not your choice, not your choice It’s my choice, my choice, my body my choice My body My choice My body My choice You say I’m a murderer, a sinner Well then what the fuck are you? Your hands are red with all the blood of all the people who can’t choose I’m disposable, deplorable there’s nothing left to do I’m just a babymaker, birth canal That’s all I am to you It’s not your choice, not your choice, not your choice It’s my choice, my choice, my body my choice My body My choice My body My choice
6.
It's Over 03:06
I don’t forgive you for the things that you did I had to live with them like you never did Couldn’t think about it for so long Had to pretend like nothing was wrong I felt wrong and I couldn’t sleep I couldn’t dress myself and I couldn’t eat You wanted power but you just had control You took a part of me and swallowed it whole It’s over, it’s over, it’s over Used to blame myself but it’s on you The things you said about me just weren’t true You made me think I couldn’t trust myself You made me think I couldn’t ask for help And now I realize that’s it’s all your fault I shut out my friends and I put up a wall Had to learn how to trust again Had to learn how to rely on my friends It’s over, it’s over, it’s over

about

Returning on the heels of their 2021 EP Feral, a 7-song record laced with elements of 90’s alt-rock and soaring, surf-pop vocal harmonies, Cat Valley hits a fresh sonic stride: Their new EP, Bingo Queen, out September 15th, 2023, digs into hardcore punk’s distorted guitars, bellowing vocals, and driving tempos, as it rages in the face of political oppression and explores themes of trauma, aging, and self-love.

Produced by Erik Takuichi Wallace and recorded at both Champion Studios and Shibusa Sound, Bingo Queen was created gradually over the last two years, as Flinn and Hegge, who first met in their early twenties, grappled with the life changes that have come with getting older. The title track in particular pokes fun at their newfound identities as sober, in-bed-by-ten, thirty-somethings, as Flinn and Hegge sing “too old for drugs, too young for retirement.” Meanwhile, tracks like self-loving “Mean Girls,” and patriarchy-bashing “Not Me,” embrace the greatest gifts of getting older—a strong sense of self and a take-no-shit attitude.

Bingo Queen also explores society’s new normal—an onslaught of oppressive news and politics, including the reversal of Roe V. Wade, which inspired Cat Valley to write from a more personal lens than they have previously. “My Body,” with its emphatic pro-choice chorus, “My body, my choice,” was written within weeks of the Supreme Court’s groundbreaking decision, and captures Flinn and Hegge’s searing vocal delivery, both vulnerable in grief and empowered in rage. Likewise, “It’s Over,” exorcizes the influence of and trauma left by past abusers in one energetic punk rock anthem.

As it triumphantly releases old hurts, celebrates the self, and stands up for emotional and physical autonomy with blistering grit, Bingo Queen marks Cat Valley at a formidable new stage.
Cat Valley is Whitney Flinn, Abby Hegge, Kristen Stanovich, and Melanie Sehman. The band has since performed at venues and festivals around the country, including Treefort Music Festival and Belltown Bloom, and released three EPs, including Bingo Queen.
